How did Paul Cezanne and Henri Matisse revolutionise still life?

I need to know how Paul Cezanne and Henri Matisse revolutionise still life or why they are such great still life artists. I 'm looking for particular emphasis on STILL LIFE not cubism or impressionism.

If you fell that other artists revolutionised still life more that Cezanne or Matisse feel free to mention others!

Cezanne especially. Look closely at his tables under the apples and oranges. See the plane of the table top and how it doesn't seem to 'fit'? Part of it may be tilted towards the viewer and the perspective is wonky. He made composition more important than realistic depiction to add interest to the painting.

Matisse was more of a colourist and a portrait painter.
