Sometimes you go with a paint finish, and your results are unexpected, to be diplomatic. You need to correct things, but for whatever reason, do not have the resources to repaint. In the case where you have selected a high-gloss finish, like an enamel, or used glaze that shows significant sheen, there are options to reduce the glare. In this case, rather then a full repaint, employing some decorative techniques to obscure and reduce the visibility of the walls is an easier, after-the-fact remedy for a glare situation.

Employ extensive window treatments. Either install bigger drapes or curtains or extend the ones you have further out on either side of the windows. This obscures more wall area, reducing glare. Use sheers that extend below the sill, too, for a low-impact solution. The sheers also reduce strong sunlight.

Hang wall art. The best solutions will be large and matte, having no gloss on the finish. A fiber piece is perfect. They can be any size or color. They are naturally matte. They are also lightweight. This means they can be installed on most any wall type without requiring reinforcement. The matte fiber and large size will block a lot of glare.

Control the light. Use sheer curtains to stop a lot of piercing sunlight that can ricochet off glossy walls, creating glare. Reduce the light in internal fixtures. The lower the output of the bulbs, the less glare. Avoid lights that point at walls. For instance, a track light or spot light will create a strong flare on a glossy wall. If you use high-intensity lights, point them at the ceiling to disperse the light. If you have dimmers, keep them low.

Use glare-reducing glass or plastic in picture frames. A big image framed with glass or other protective material that isn't treated for glare reduction will add more glare to the room. Move out framed works that aren't treated and replace them with glare-free works.
