After some use, scratches or other damage can make some DVDs unplayable. Instead of tossing theses unusable DVDs into the garbage can, you can use the discs to make a whimsical craft project, such as a DVD coaster. By painting and decorating the DVDs with craft materials, the DVDs can be given new life and protect your tabletops and other surfaces from the moisture that often forms on the outside of drinking glasses.

Paint patterns onto the back side of a DVD using acrylic paint. Paint the patterns into forms like spirals, swirls, dots or zigzags.

Trace over the designs using glitter glue. Let the glue dry.

Place the DVD onto a sheet of felt fabric, and trace around the DVD with a pencil.

Cut out the felt circle with scissors.

Glue the felt circle onto the front of the DVD with craft glue. Let the glue dry before using the DVD as a decorative coaster.
