Whether you just want kitschy kitchen decor or a unique sign for your restaurant, you can paint your own sign with little time or effort. The most difficult part of making this type of sign is ensuring that the words on the sign are accurately translated and do not say anything that might be alienating or insulting to your customers.

Decide what you want on your sign.

Have the words you want on your sign translated. Under no circumstances should you use an online translation program. Use a live person, preferably a native speaker who understands word context, not just symbols. If you do not know anyone with this skill, go to a local university and approach a teacher of Chinese. He may translate it free or for a small fee. Make sure he gives you a paper with the appropriate symbols and shows you how to imitate them as necessary.

Write or draw the proper symbols on your prepared sign board to advertise your restaurant. Use an appropriate sealant to protect your sign.
