Decorative hunting decoys are beautiful adornments to a warm hearth. However, they are expensive to buy; some of the finest sell for hundreds of dollars. Painting a decoy yourself is one inexpensive option. Oil paints can be purchased inexpensively at a local craft or discount store. There are two things to consider before beginning this project: the material you are painting and the prey you are targeting. We'll assume that the decoy surface being painted is wood.
