where would you categorise chinese guohua or ink and wash paintings? i think they developed from the Tang dynasty but is there a proper name for the category of art style , or movement name?

It is categorised under Chinese Painting, which can then further break down into 4 sub categories: Shan Shui Painting, Tang Dynasty Painting, Ink and Wash Painting and Ming Dynasty Painting.

Over here in Britain we call it 'Chinese Brush Painting'. There is probably a proper name for it - have you googled it?
