Where is John Singer Sargent's "Madame X" painting in 2011?

It was in a museum in New York in 2002, so where is it now? This is very important because I have to see it in person to be able to use it for a research paper of mine. Thank you so much in advance

Since the museum is presently renovating the American section, many of the paintings are in glass cases in a section that they call "Visible Storage." It's there presently, next to "Lady with the Rose."

so, unless it is out on loan in should be on display. It is worth phoning in first to find out. '
