Alphonse Mucha is the best example I can think of. We were crazy about his work during the 60s and 70s and all us art students had at least one Mucha poster on our bed- sit walls !
The Mucha museum in Prague is well worth a visit when you go to the Czech Republic
Another favourite of mine is Gustav Klimt . And some of the Pre Raphaelites used the theme of flowers/ foliage with portraits, notably
Dante Gabriel Rossetti
Arthur Hughes
John Everett Millais ( look at his painting ' Ophelia' )
William Holman Hunt ( ' The Hireling Shepherd ')
Ford Madox Brown ( ' Pretty Baa- Lambs ' )
