Efficient Ways To Restore Oil Painting on Canvas

The older the oil paintings are, the more easily they become dull and soiled. When the paintings are preserved in a fixed room with dust and high humidity, then such phenomenon may always happen. It is surely an uneasy work to restore the paintings, just have much more care and patience and have a good command of painting techniques.

The first important thing is to make sure what you stay is a completely dry space. Use a big brush and tentatively sweep it along the canvas. To do this can greatly loosen up any dirt existing on the surface the canvas. If necessary, the small and medium sized paint brushes can be used to brush around the edges and in crevices.

Second, make regular examination of the oil paintings to check whether they have been cracked, color-changed, or transformed. You must remember never to press too hard on the canvas which might stretch. If the condition which the paint came off onto the cloth happens, then apply less pressure and never touch that place again.

Third, it is extremely important to keep the canvas completely dry. Never make it in a somewhat moisture environment. When working in the small sections which consist of plenty of inches to fully remove the varnish, pay more attention and patience than you usually do.

Fourth, last but not the least, it is inevitable to make sure you have the exact oil paint colors. By the use of a smaller paintbrush, paint small sections on the canvas which has been faded, or cracked again. If necessary, stay inside the lines as much as possible and use a magnifying glass.

In order to complete this process, please sweep a fresh paint over the whole work and make it dry.
